About Us:
Formed in 1991, when four friends who
played the bagpipes were striving to develop more appreciation
for Celtic music and traditions in this area. Our
numbers have grown over the years and we now have over fifteen
members, as well as friends who sit in with us on
occasion. With our base in York, Pennsylvania, we also
have members from Cumberland and Lancaster Counties. We
teach others how to play the pipes and drums in the Scottish
and Irish traditions, as well as pass on information about
dance and other Celtic Arts. As a non-profit
organization, any funds gathered are used for uniforms and
instrument maintenance. Members are not reimbursed for
their time and talents in a monetary way, but in the delight
of passing on their knowledge to others. The group
performs throughout the South Central Pennsylvaina and
Maryland areas in various parade and concert venues. The
band usually wears the Black Watch tartan, but for certain
performances, family tartans are worn.
